The Problem

There were two men named Christopher LAKE who were born about the same time very near each other's birthplace. Far too many online trees confuse these two men. This research note untangles them and their records.

-- 1755 Apr 6 (if he really died on his 65th birthday) - born Middlesex County, New Jersey - son of John LAKE and Margaret SNIDER - baptized 18 May 1755 at Six Mile Run in Somerset County, New Jersey - married Susannah (maiden name unknown) - Loyalist - died 6 Apr 1820 in Loughborough Township, Frontenac County, Ontario, Canada

-- 1765 Oct 1 - born Egg Harbor, Gloucester County, New Jersey - eldest son of Daniel LAKE and Sarah LUCAS - moved to Cumberland County - married Mary (widow THOMAS) 2 Mar 1813 - moved to Salem County - no mention of role in Revolution (too young) - apparently never left United States (His family is extensively covered in Adams and Risley (1915) which can be downloaded in its entirety at https://archive.org/details/genealogyof lakef00adam )
