This is the text of an e-mail from Cliff Johnston 10 Oct 2020:

"I have become more of the opinion that George may have been the father of Francis as Francis came to live on George's farm in Upper Canada and within a few years, George disappears from the Assessment Roll for taxes, and Francis takes over.  Secondly, Archibald is a signatory to Francis's Will, indicating perhaps a closer familial relationship than to Robert; however, Archibald bought his land abutting Robert's land indicating at least some sort of familiarity, IMO.  It is a real puzzle.  Then there are the 2 Johnstons who appear on Francis' farm in the Assessment Roll - Thomas & Catherine in different years, suggesting to me a kinship other than husband and wife.  Perhaps, and I strongly believe so, a brother and a sister of Francis, or at the very least, first cousins.  Add to this equation that the census records have Francis born in England while Robert & Archibald were both born in Ireland.  I have not found the documentation for Archibald's birth, but someone online has a specific date in Tyrone Co..  Could they all have had a common grandfather?  Perhaps each came from a different brother, making them grandsons of the Common Ancestor.  It is a puzzle that I hope that we can solve."
