John Came Baptism 1583

The record definitely spells the surname CARNE, but other evidence points to this being the correct baptism.

Tony (Ancestry rail1601) sent this note 16 Feb 2020:

"Thank you for putting an image of the parish register on line. I certainly agree that the entry is written Joh'es filus Johannes CARNE; however, you will have seen by the uniformity of the text, that these pages have been copied from earlier records, probably after 1598, following the ruling that all entries must be made on parchment, and that earlier paper records must be copied out onto parchment. Under these circumstances, an initial entry of Came might easily have been misread as the more common Cornish surname Carne."
