Letter of Administration of the estate of Nicholas Grose who died intestate dated Luxulyan, October 1695: For Marian Grose relict of Luxulyan in County Cornwall widower Johannes Wellington of Bodmin in Cornwall obligatum & William Pemrose? of Lanivett in Cornwall yeoman _ obligari Edward Drewe October Anno Dom 1695

[NOTE BY Dana (Smith) Clement: "The above opening opening paragraph written in Latin. Comparing other Letters of Administrations of the same time period it would translate to the following : Edward Drewe was the court official. Mary Grose, John Wellington and William Pemrose? were named to put up a bond which would only become payable if Mary Grose did not administer the estate properly and fulfil all the obligations imposed on her by the court such as making "a true and perfect inventory"- John Wellington and William Pemrose? would have been ‘bondsmen' who were also held liable for making sure the courts requests were met."]

The condition of this obligation is Such That if the above bound on Mary Grose widow the Relict and Administratrix of all and Singular the goods Chattells & Creditts of Nicholas Grose late of the parish of Luxulyan within the Archdeaconry of Cornwall deceased - - - Doe make or cause to be made a true and perfect lnventory of all & Singular the goods Chattells and Creditts of the said deceased which have or shall come to the hands possession or knowledge of her the said Mary Grose or into the hands & possession of any other person or persons for her and the same soo made doo exhibit or cause to be exhibited into the Registry of the Laws Archdeaconary Court at or before the last day of November next ensuing. And the said goods Chattells and Creditts and all othei the goods Chattells and Creditts of the said deseased at the time of his death which at any time after shall come to the hands and possession of her the said Mary Grose or into the hands and possession of any other person or persons for her doe well and truly administer, according to Laws and further doe make or cause to be made a true and just account of her said Administration at or before the last day of September next ensuing. And all the rest and residue of the said goods Chattells and Creditts which shall bee foundremaining upon the said Administratrix or appoint (The same being first examined and allowed of by the Judge or Judges for the time being of the said Court) shall deliver & pay unto such person or persons respectively to the said Judge or Judges by his or their Degree or Sentence pursuant to the true intent and meaning of an Act of Parliament Intituled An Act for the better setling of Intestated Estates shall limit & appoint. And if it shall hereafter appear that any last will and Testament was made by the said deceased and the Executor or Executors therein named doo exibit the same into the said Court makeing request to have it allowed and approved accordingly. If the said Mary Grose above bound on being thereunto required doo send or and deliver the said Letters of Aministration approbation of such Testament being first had and made in the said Court that be on this __ Obligation to be void and of none effect or else to remaine in full force & vertue
