Two James Youltons, born about the same time in Devon, have led to confusion of the two by some researchers. This note presents the basic information for the two, so that the confusion can be avoided with careful consideration.

Baptisms


James Youlton was baptized with that name and spelling at Stoke Damerel 4 May 1788, son of John and Joyce Youlton.

James Wanlass Youlton was baptized with that name and spelling at Charles the Martyr Church in Plymouth 23 May 1790, son of Gabriel and Ann Youlton.

Marriages

The 1788 Stoke Damerel James Youlton (son of John and Joyce Youlton) married at Stoke Damerel 26 Nov 1810 with Mary Lampen.

The 1790 Plymouth James Wanlass Youlton (son of Gabriel and Ann Youlton) married at Gorran, Cornwall 2 Apr 1814 at with Catherine Prophet.

Children Baptisms

I have not traced the baptisms of the 1788 Stoke Damerel James Youlton and his wife Mary Lampen.

The 1790 Plymouth James Wanless Youlton and his wife Catherine Prophet had four children baptized at Gorran, Cornwall. The records of Gorran also show baptisms of Gabriel and Ann Youlton.
