MILTON KOUTECKY It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our Dad on January 23, 2009, at the age of 80 years. Left to treasure his memory are his wife of 56 years, Ollie; daughter Teri Raiford (Andy) of Cedar Park, TX; sons, Brent of Bowsman, MB and Kelvin (Cindy) of Nanoose, BC; grandchildren, Leah and Camille Cathro; Jody (Arron Kary), Evan, Jared, Magan, Bradley Koutecky, and Sandy Skoropata; great-granddaughters, Harley and Shaiden; sister Eileen (Milan) Lev and family of Mississauga, ON; sister-in-law Ann-Marie Koutecky of Sanford, MB, sister-in-law Elsie Hrechka and family of Powell River, BC. He was predeceased by his brother George in 2006. Born in Czechoslovakia in 1928 to Emil and Marienka Koutecky, Milt immigrated to Canada in 1930. Married to Olga Hrechka in 1952, he worked for Sherritt Gordon Mines in Lynn Lake, MB for most of the 1950s. In the 1960s and 1970s, he owned and operated Koutecky Outboard Sales Service in Thompson, MB. One of the founding members of the Thompson Power Toboggan Club in 1963, and the annual Hullaballoo races, Koutecky Outboard sponsored many local events in Thompson's early years. In the late 1970s, Milt and Ollie owned and operated the Crescent Park Motel in Swan River before retiring in 1987. Funeral services and interment took place in Minitonas, MB on January 28. Pallbearers were Stanley Lee, Bradley Koutecky, Sandy Skoropata, Brent Koutecky, Kelvin Koutecky and Les Nelson. Donations in Milt's memory may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
