reported 15 Aug 1826; "Tjitte Heerkes Smit, oud zestig jaren, van beroep Scheepstimmerman geboren op de Groote Gaast, laatst woonachtig te Joure, echtgenoot van Geertje Bonnes wonende aldaar en zoon van Heerke ..... in leven Scheepstimmerman en van wijlen Janke .... op de veertiende dag der maand Augustus des avonds ten vijf uren in het Huis geq(uoteerd) N~(umero) 129 te Joure" +++++ TRANSLATION +++++ Tjitte Heerkes Smit, age sixty yeears, of occupation Ship Carpenter, born at Groote Gaast [=Tjerkgaast], lately living at Joure, spouse of Geertje Bonnes living there and son of Heerke ..... in life Ship Carpenter and of the late Janke .... on the fourteenth day of the month of August in the evening at 5 o'clock in the House quoted number 129 at Joure [image from www.allefriezen.nl] ----- Thanks to Sibbele Postma for help with the transcription and translation [NOTE: His death record says he was born at Groote Gaast, but his birth is record at Doniaga (Frysk Duneaga) when he was born. The death record is in error: his younger sibs were born at Tjerkgaast = Groote Gaast but not him or his older sister Antje.]
