Our German (and some Dutch) ancestry

Wilhelmina Gelis & Adam Schaumburg

Wilhelmina Gelis was born in Chicago in 1846, when the population was 14,000. Adam Schaumburg was born the same year in Grossenenglis, Germany. He came to Chicago in 1866, where they married in 1867. They moved their family to the intentional German community of New Ulm, Minnesota about 1872, moving to Springfield, MN, by 1880, before returning to Chicago about 1882. This tree is a frozen snapshot of my Gelis-Hasemann-Schaumburg-Staack tree on Ancestry, which is the master version. All living people have no information except surname, but you may be able to find yourself. However, I have not tried to capture all the living members, so that many people are not in the tree, in which case you will need to find one of your parents or grandparents.

This version’s snapshot was download from Ancestry 6 Feb 2017 and has 2,136 people in 725 families with 698 image files.

For those who have an Ancestry account, click here for Friedrich Carl August Gelis (1823-1891) and you can then navigate to anyone else within the tree.
